Rajasthan is one of India's most important jewellery states — both as a consumer market and as a craft centre. Jaipur is globally recognised as a jewellery manufacturing hub known for Kundan, Meenakari, and Polki jewellery. The state's royal heritage and affluent landowning communities have historically driven very high gold and jewellery demand.
Jaipur is home to over 25,000 registered jewellery manufacturers and exports jewellery to over 50 countries — the city's jewellery industry turns over thousands of crores annually making it one of India's top jewellery export hubs.

Teej (monsoon festival), Gangaur, Diwali, and the heavy wedding season (October–February) are peak gold buying periods in Rajasthan.
Buy only BIS hallmarked gold. Look for the BIS logo, purity mark (916 for 22K, 999 for 24K), year of marking, and jeweller's identification mark on every piece.
Always ask for gold rate, making charges, and GST separately in writing. Making charges range 8–25% and are negotiable. Get an invoice that shows all components.
If the goal is investment, Sovereign Gold Bonds give the same price appreciation plus 2.5% annual interest, and capital gains are tax-free at maturity. Physical jewellery has high making charges that erode returns.
